Who We Are

Free 2 Fly is a running and walking club built around VIPs, our visually impaired athletes, and powered by the partnership between runners and sighted guides. Together, we create a space where movement feels accessible, supported, and genuinely freeing.

We meet every Sunday morning at Green Lake Park for our weekly runs and walks, building consistency, trust, and community. Beyond Sundays, we host monthly field trips to new locations, participate in races around Seattle, host quarterly guide trainings and organize events that bring people together both on and off the path.

We also welcome collaborations with community partners who share our vision for inclusive movement.

No experience is needed, just a willingness to show up and move together.

Our Community

We welcome:

  • Blind, low vision, and DeafBlind runners and walkers (VIPs)

  • Sighted guides, new or experienced

  • ASL interpreters

Everything we do is centered on VIP athletes, creating a more thoughtful and connected experience for everyone involved.

Why “Free 2 Fly”

Our name reflects what we believe running can be.

Free is the feeling many experience when they begin running, the same feeling our founder, Ixchel, discovered when she transitioned from running solo to running with a guide.

2 represents partnership. Every run is a shared experience between VIP and guide, making movement a true team effort.

Fly is inspired by our butterfly logo, a symbol of transformation, growth, and what’s possible when people are supported.
